For those of you who would like to play piano accompaniment – with no desire to become accomplished, professional musician – this is a good place to start.
When you get comfortable with these changes you might even want to learn some music theory and improve your technique.
Nice music doesn’t have to have complicated chord structure. Case in point, Canon in D has only 5 diatonic chords – 3 major and 2 minor.
This piece uses five of the seven diatonic chords in D Major. The other two chords are Em (II), and C#dim (VII). You may use the VII chord as a triad substitution for the dominant chord (V7). C#dim/A = A7.
