Every diatonic chord will also contain the 4th, or 5th, or 6th note of the scale and can also be used as anchors.

We will call this Chord Change Anchor 456

If there are non-diatonic chords the b5 and #5 and b7 may also be present.

Example 10

In example 10a the key is Db major to Gb major and the anchor notes are Gb (4), Ab (5), Bb (6), and are at the bottom of all the chords.

The piece contains non-diatonic chords, so there is B the b7th.

The key changes to Gb but that did not affect the anchor notes.

In example 10b the key is G major and the anchor notes are C (4), D (5), E (6), and are at the bottom of all the chords.
