Every diatonic chord will also contain the 6th, or 7th, or 8th note of the scale and can also be used as anchors.

We will call this Chord Change Anchor 678.

If there are non-diatonic chords the 7th and b7th may also be present.

The II IV  VI chords are anchored from the 6th scale step.

The III V  VII chords are anchored from the 7th scale step.

The I chord is anchored from the 8th scale step.

The IV and VI chords contain two anchor notes (6th and 8th) and can also be anchored from the  8th scale step.

Example 11

In example 11a the key is D major and the anchor notes are B (6),  C# (7), D (8) and are at the bottom of all the chords.
