Not For Music Theory
(Circle of Fifths}
When I wrote the post, Circle of Fifths, the intent was to give the music student an easy-to-remember phrase that would help them to remember the order of sharp notes (#) and keys, the order of flat notes (b) and keys, and the order of the Circle of Fifths. I did not intend to teach music theory.
I assumed that since the Circle of Fifths is not music lesson #1, the student who is looking at the Circle of Fifths already has the theoretical knowledge of sharps and flats.
I did not think it was necessary to point out that
the flat keys start at F and wrap around,
the flat notes start at B (Bb),
the sharp keys start at G,
and the sharp notes start at F (F#).
(b) GCFBEAD (#) FCGDAEB
The instruments are linear, but Music is circular, so everything wraps around.
Anyone who does not have the necessary theoretical knowledge should get a book or a music teacher.
There is also a lot of information on Google and Youtube.
Do not frustrate yourself; music is for relaxation and fun.
